I can’t hide my excitement and euphoria because December is here.
Indeed, it is my favourite time of the year. Not only is it my birthday month ( which is why I love December even more) but it is also the time when everything becomes magical, enchanting and magnificent.
So here is a little list of a few of the reasons why I love December and this time of the year so much:
- Quality family time
Spending time with my loved ones has always been something near and dear to my heart, but somehow during the holidays we spend even more time together. There is nothing more beautiful than enjoying the magic of winter together, when the first snow of the year falls or when we all gather around cookies and tea to indulge in the stories we have heard countless times but that still make us smile.
I love, love snow!!!
I have wonderful memories of winter from my childhood.
Playing snowballs, sledging, building snowmen and making snow angels – those were priceless moments of pure childlike joy. I am very happy that I have saved that child in me and still love doing all those things. I am 25 years old, and yes I still enjoy making a snowman.
- Putting up the Christmas tree
Is there anybody who doesn’t enjoy it? Excuses like “I have grown out of it” are not accepted!
- Christmas songs
I love them! They always put me in the festive mood and fill me with a serenity and cheerfulness. I am a hopeless romantic, I know!
- Christmas Movie Marathon
Are you one of those who will watch Home Alone, Love Actually and The Holiday again this winter? I definitely am. Over and over until I have had enough… There is just something special about this tradition. Cuddle up, hot chocolate, Christmas lights twinkling and the movie marathon can begin.
Cozy sweaters, warm coats, fashionable scarves, hats and boots – everything you need to go through winter days in style.
Personally I find winter fashion the most magical and special – there is just something about the layers of clothes we put on. We wrap ourselves like presents.
- Seasonal drinks
Hot chocolate, hot punch or my fave – a warm mug of mulled wine with cinnamon – are perfect to warm you up in the cold days.
- The joy of giving
Giving is a joy and the most important kind is not the giving of material goods. This time of the year is perfect to spread kindness, happiness and love. You truly don’t need money to make somebody happy and brighten their day. Giving what you can is the key, and there is always a smile, kind word and warm hug you can spare.
- Review of the past year
For me December is a great month to reflect on the past year. On what I have learned, what I have done wrong, what I am thankful for and where I need a little push for the year that is coming. And if there is something we don’t like, we get the chance to start a new. No matter what happened during this year, whether we achieved our goals or not, we get a new opportunity in the New Year. We get a chance to close the door on all of the things that didn’t go our way. Cheers to that!
Don’t let December pass without having enjoyed its magic. Stop for a moment and appreciate this last month of the year. Enjoy everything that it offers.
P.S. Let me know why you love December, and if you have a different favourite month and why?
