The perfect way to get out of the city crowd and daily life routine is to go on a romantic holiday somewhere along the coast and to celebrate some special moments there with someone you love.
In this beautiful world that is truly full of beautiful destinations, choosing a place to travel to is not easy.
However, I am writing this post for all of you who are planning a trip at this moment and are not quite sure where to go.
At the foot of Mount Orijen and the entrance of one of the most beautiful bays in the world, Boka Kotorska, there is the most romantic city of Montenegro, Herceg Novi.
It was this magical city that I had the opportunity to visit with my boyfriend last month. And to experience it in a completely different way, where my soul was filled with the most beautiful variations of emotions, was truly special to me.
The cobbled passages, unusually charming streets nestled in the Old Town, enchanting churches and centuries old fortresses, distinguish Herceg Novi from other towns on the Montenegrin coast.
Rich in diverse architecture and with an interesting history, Herceg Novi offers you everything you need to experience his magic.
Walking down the promenade Pet Danica, with my hand in his hand and a view of the royal blue Adriatic Sea, filled me with an unbelievable feeling of tranquility.
Every inhalation of that pure sea air represented a flicker of my soul.
This promenade is full of bars and restaurants where you can always take a coffee or lunch break, while enjoying the view of the sea.
Above the Pet Danica promenade is the magnificent Forte Mare, a fortress situated on the firm breathtaking sea rocks.
The heart of the city, the Old Town, is adorned by the buildings that were built in different epochs of history.
On the main square of Nikola Đurković Square there are many shops as well as bars where you can always sit down to relax and enjoy the magnificent view of the symbol of the city, the Clock Tower. The tower was raised by the Turks in the 17th century under the orders of Sultan Mahmoud and was the city’s main gate during the Turkish reign.
Behind the Clock Tower there is the Square of Herceg Stefan, known as the Bellavista Square, dominated by the Orthodox Church of St. Archangel Michael.
Standing in front of the church, dedicated to one of the seven archangels and one angel in which my soul believes and prays to, was an incredible feeling that flooded me with pure gratitude.
At the Bellavista Square there is also the Memorial fountain Karaca, one of the most important fountains in the city and a witness from the time of the Turkish reign over Herceg Novi.
What you can not help but notice when you go to the Old Town is the most famous Novial chimneysweep Njunjo.
There is some belief that when you rub his nose, it will bring you happiness (at least thats what my boyfriend told me :D).
Also, near Njegoseva Street, there is the Gradska kafana (city cafe) which you must visit if you come to Herceg Novi. Believe me that you will enjoy in a pleasant, warm atmosphere and the most beautiful view of the blue sea and sky.
Traveling to this coastal city, which is also called the city of Mimosa, the city of Scales, the city of the sun and the city of writers has been one of my most beautiful journeys ever.
The trip to Herceg Novi was our first journey together and therefore it will always have a special place in my heart.
The most beautiful 12 days of my life.
Sea of Montenegro, the charming streets of the Old Town that keep our secrets, long walks on the beach while my hand is in his …well, what more could I ask for in this beautiful life?
A smile on my face as love is overflowing my heart.
I hope that I managed to convey to you at least a fraction of the atmosphere and my feelings – just enough to intrigue your soul to go there.
Herceg Novi leaves no one indifferent.
My dears, have you enjoyed reading this travel post?
Lots of love,
